One of the most common things on a project is sharing design information between teams. this course will help you learn to effectively manage data between Revit and Civil 3D as well as data between other teams using Revit. Software required: Revit 2017, Civil 3D 2016.
Have you ever found yourself trying to efficiently manage models between multiple design firms for a building project? If so, Coordinating Civil, Architecture & Structure Models with Revit is the perfect course for you because you will learn how to effectively manage these models the right way, every time. First, you'll learn how to utilize Shared Coordinates between Revit & Civil 3D models and ensure they drop into the correct geolocations every time. Next, using Copy/Monitor and interference checking, you will see how to manage and change data between Revit models, identify items of conflict between two Revit models, and resolve the conflict between them. Finally, you'll learn effective ways to manage the visual properties of Views in Revit using View Templates and View Filters. When you're finished with this Revit course, you'll not only have a manageable workflow, but you'll also be able to efficiently collaborate and coordinate your effort between multiple disciplines. Software required: Revit 2017, Civil 3D 2016.
Mr. Bennett is the BIM Manager at Taylor-Design. He is also a FAA-licensed Remote Pilot Airman and has successfully introduced drone technology into project-specific workflows for design projects. Mr. Bennett is an Autodesk Certified Professional for AutoCAD and Revit, an Autodesk Certified Expert for AutoCAD Architecture, and is an Administrator for the Autodesk User Group International (AUGI) discussion forums. With more than 20 years of hands-on industry experience, he has expert knowledge of CAD and BIM, and works with teams daily in the use, support, and application of Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk 3ds Max, Navisworks and Bentley Microstation for design. He is also responsible for directing the training of technology users within his group, contributing to practice-related research and development, and providing recommendations for the implementation of new technologies.
Hey everyone, my name is Steve Bennett and welcome to my course Coordinating Civil, Architecture & Structure Models with Revit. I am the west coast CAD Manager at Moffatt & Nichol and work with teams in their daily use of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit and more.
I’ve helped a number of companies we’ve teamed up with on projects to successfully integrate the coordination workflows found in this course into real, live projects. After doing so, everyone is excited to be able to have their models in sync.
In this course, we are going to establish repeatable workflows that place your models in real world coordinate systems, manage changes between models from two different trades, resolve conflicting spatial conflicts between model elements and look at effectively controlling display of linked trade models.
Some of the major topics that we will cover include:
Shared Coordinate setup between multiple trade models
Setup and optimal use of Copy/Monitor
Using the Interference Tool to resolve spatial conflicts
View optimization for linked models
By the end of this course you will be able to confidently bring together and manage models from different trades and ensure they sync together in the same coordinate systems.
Before beginning the course, you should be familiar with typical Windows Behavior, Revit Fundamentals and very basic AutoCAD functions.
I hope you’ll join me on this journey to learn these workflows in the Coordinating Civil, Architecture & Structure Models with Revit course, at Pluralsight.
