The Escalator Principle
My name is Jay Mcfarland, and I want to welcome you to this module where we'll be talking about The Escalator Principle. Now, I alluded to this principle a little bit in the introduction to this course. So, what we're going to do is first of all talk about the problem with the traditional corporate ladder, the mentality that we've all allowed to sink into our brain about how the corporate ladder works, how you move up that ladder, and we'll talk about the typical tactics that we see in the workplace of how to move up that ladder. And then we're going to discuss how to convert that ladder into an escalator, how to make sure that there is power there, that it's moving you up based upon your actions. And then we'll talk about this idea of promoting yourself. And I don't mean like self promotion like advertising. I mean actually giving yourself the promotion and replacing yourself. So, let's go ahead and get started by talking about the corporate ladder as it exists today.

Working With Management
My name is Jay Mcfarland, and I want to welcome you to this module on Working With Management. Remember, the idea is that we're going to turn the corporate ladder into an escalator, and we're going to do that by getting our managers, our peers, and our subordinates all working on our behalf. So, in this module we're going to deep dive on how to work with managers and get them to stand at the top of that escalator and give you the thumbs up and pull you up because they absolutely have to have you on their team. So, in this module we're going to talk about what things you should do with management to make this happen, and then we're going to talk about the things that you should avoid, those things that you should absolutely not do when working with management in order to guarantee this situation where when the time comes to look to promote somebody within the company there's just no question who it's going to be. You have eliminated all doubt whatsoever. So, let's talk about first of all those things that we should do with management.

Working With Peers
My name is Jay Mcfarland, and I want to welcome you to this module on working with peers. We've already talked about how to turn your corporate ladder into an escalator by getting management involved with your career and helping them to help you move up the ladder and actually giving yourself the promotion long before it ever happens. Now we want to talk about working with your peers and how to either get them to push you up that corporate ladder or at least to get out your way and welcome your promotion when it happens. So, in this course we're going to talk about what to do when working with your peers and just like in the last module. So, in this module we're going to talk about what to do when you're working with your peers to get them involved and to help push you up that corporate escalator, and then we'll talk about those things that you should not do when working with your peers. Many of these things are very common in the workplace, and we think that they're going to help us move up in the company, and actually these things hurt us quite a bit, and we don't even know it's happening. So, let's go ahead and get started by talking about what we should be doing when working with our peers in order to move up that ladder.

Strategies to Supercharge Success
My name is Jay Mcfarland, and I want to welcome you to this module, Strategies to Supercharge Success. Now, hopefully you've spent some time in our previous modules where I've talked about turning the corporate ladder into an escalator by getting everyone in the company on your team and on your side starting with management, then moving onto your peers, and then being a great manager for your coworkers. These three things are going to begin this process of moving up the corporate ladder or turning it into an escalator. Now I want to talk about some strategies that don't necessarily fit into the three categories of management, peers, and subordinates, just some additional things that I want you to think about as you begin this process of looking to move up the corporate escalator. So, in this module we're going to talk about first of all things that you can do to supercharge your success, and then just like the other modules we'll talk about things that you should absolutely avoid because not only will they not supercharge your success, they will slow it down or stop it altogether. And then finally I want to give you an idea of how you might implement all of the things that we've talked about in this course, kind of a step-by-step overview of how you might approach things as you get started in this process. So, let's begin by talking about those things that you should do to supercharge your success and turn that corporate ladder into a fast-moving escalator.
